Self-Improvement Sunday #1: Ensuring a better and Happy New Year

नमस्ते! Adding a bit of Indian tradition! Well, we are on the verge of not just a new year but a new decade. And there is already so much hype about it on social media, that some journalists have already bought a new car by selling you useless-misinformed stories.

Nevertheless; apart from you lying drunk on the floor of a bar somewhere, what is going to be so special about 2020?

Come on, think about it a little. Okay, think a little harder.

Maybe you’ll graduate this year, i.e. if you manage to clear your exams, or maybe you will end up meeting someone great, or maybe you will finally be able to buy something nice for yourself, or maybe… similarly add another 365 things from your wishlist.

Probably, by now you get the point. If not, then here it is – There is nothing which is going to be existentially special about the new year. You will continue to live the same life in the same way, in the same house, in the same office, and with the same people. This may sound a little life-sucking. However, what something means to you depends upon how you interpret it. This also means that you can mold your interpretations in ways that are beneficial and emotionally healthy for you.

Not just in the coming year, but life in general, nothing is going to be essentially great and nothing is going to be essentially shit. It is going to be what you make of it.

And, speaking about emotional health, this week I wrote an interesting article to help you grow your emotional intelligence using 3 simple questions.

Let’s make this year helpful, rather than special.

From this day onwards, I promise to send a weekly newsletter with a delicious dose for your self-improvement to enhance your life, and to help you in becoming – possibly the best version of yourself.

And if you are someone who doesn’t like to read long articles, then don’t worry either. My articles will soon be available in audio formats, along with some other cool and helpful content. Also, I will be releasing my first book this year, so yeah let’s be excited about it.

I wish you and your family a very happy and safe New Year!
